They may not be as magical as Dorothy’s ruby slippers, but U.S. airmen left Donald Eismann Elementary last week with a little bit of home tucked under their arms. Master Sgt. Jason Norberg, First Lt. Gina Consoli and Senior Airman Joshua Hitesman were presented with home made pillowcases, made by Mrs. Dana Davenport’s third grade on May 6.

Reports, witnesses tell tale of Bonney Lake SR 410 tragedy

There was no sound when the state Route 410 barrier fell off the overpass and onto Angeline Road below, witnesses to the tragedy on April 13 said. One moment the barrier was there, and the next, it was on the road below. Now the dust is finally settling as the first installment of police reports investigating the tragedy became available on May 1, and witness testimony in the report reveal what happened in the crucial minutes before the barrier fell.

At least, that’s what Enumclaw-born Aaron “Rev” Peters and the band ‘Success’ has proven since the band formed nearly 10 years ago. Rev, along with his bandmates Austin Jones and David Casey, grew up in the small farming town south of his current home, Seattle.

With boating season approaching and water levels in Lake Tapps rising, the city of Bonney Lake will be implementing a new parking fee to replace the old boat launch fee. The rate of the fee will remain the same. The council approved the new fee during the March 24 meeting.

Lake Tapps refill only a drip, drip drip

Boaters, swimmers and lake enthusiasts will be disappointed to learn Lake Tapps may not be filled and ready to be open to the public by Memorial Day according to Cascade Water Alliance. While the refilling system is working just fine, an April 23 Cascade release stated nature is not cooperating. Reduced rainfall is affecting how quickly the lake can be refilled.

Fatal construction accident still under investigation

It’s been described as the worst tragedy the city of Bonney Lake has ever seen. The untimely deaths of Josh, Vanessa, and eight-month old Hudson Ellis early last week brought emotional turmoil to the Bonney Lake community and spurred city officials and company investigators to meticulously scrutinize what construction workers were doing on the morning of April 13 and why the barrier wall on the state Route 410 overpass fell onto Angeline Road.

Just when the city of Bonney Lake thought it saw the end of the marijuana debate, a potential marijuana retail store is ready to reignite the argument. The city officially banned licensed marijuana growers, processors and retailers from operating in the city on Jan. 13 (Ordinance No. 1502 [D15-08A]).

UPDATE | Infant, mother and father killed when concrete slab falls from SR 410 overpass onto Angeline Road in Bonney Lake

The Bonney Lake Police Department PIO Twitter account reported a family of three, an infant child, mother and father were killed when a large portion of concrete fell from SR 410 onto a truck on Angeline Road.

Barrier falls from SR 410 in Bonney Lake, crushes truck

At approximately 10:15 Monday morning, the Bonney Lake Police Department responded to a report that a jersey barrier had fallen from state Route 410 onto Angeline Road. According to Public Information Officer Todd Green, the jersey barrier, which was as wide as Angeline Road, crushed a truck driving north underneath the overpass.
