Bringing a decade’s worth of experience in marketing, public relations and administration, Tracey McCallum has taken the reins at the Enumclaw Chamber of Commerce.

The new executive director began work March 22 and rounded out her staff by hiring assistant Teresa Luedeke last week.

McCallum, a fourth-generation Enumclaw resident, was most recently executive director at the Cedar Ridge assisted living and retirement center in Bonney Lake. Until taking her new post, she also served as vice president of the Bonney Lake Chamber of Commerce.

“I’m a big relationship builder,” McCallum said, noting that the same skills she used at Cedar Ridge with families will be used in Enumclaw with the business community.

“We want it to be a very open and amicable relationship,” she said of the marriage between the chamber office, the board and its membership. “Our goal is to build relationships with all business owners in the community, bug and small.”

The immediate concern, however, is the annual chamber auction. Planned for May 1 at the Enumclaw Expo Center fieldhouse, the event serves as the organization’s primary fundraiser.

Mixed in with handling auction duties, McCallum has started her goal of meeting with every business owner in the community by the end of the year. “All of our businesses have something to bring to the table,” she said.

McCallum said her long-range goal is to bring new businesses to town “and I believe we’ll be successful through the relationships we build.”
