A message for outgoing and incoming elected officials

A thank you to those that have served, and a welcome to those just starting their service.

As 2021 draws to a close I would like to take this opportunity to thank outgoing elected officials in two communities, our Buckley neighbors and as well as those in Enumclaw. In Buckley, Mayor Pat Johnson and Councilmembers Connie Bender and Luke Wilbanks will be stepping away at the end of this year. Connie and Luke, serving as a council member for your community in this capacity has it rewards and challenges. I am wishing both of you well in your future plans.

Mayor Johnson was first elected in 2006 and served four terms as Mayor of Buckley. She has seen a recession in her first term and a pandemic in her last. As Buckley’s neighbors to the north we would like to wish her the best as Pat moves to her next adventure.

Congratulations are in order to Beau Burkett Buckley’s new Mayor-elect. I look forward to getting to know him as I did with Pat as well as working with Beau on mutual issues our two communities share. Also, congratulations to both new Councilmembers-elect Mackenzie A. Breeden and Kenneth Arsanto. Best to each of you as you prepare for your new position in the Buckley community.

In Enumclaw, two city Councilmembers, Hoke Overland and Kael Johnson, are outgoing elected officials. Serving two and one terms respectively, each have made substantial contributions to the community in their council position. I would like to thank each of them on behalf of Enumclaw for their service to the city and hard work they contributed. Their input on issues will be missed.

Congratulations to Enumclaw’s two new Councilmembers-elect, Bobby Martinez and Chris Gruner. Working together in a partnership on city issues will be valuable as we continue city improvements and maintaining a sense of community. Welcome to each of you.

Best wishes to everyone. Have a safe and Happy Holidays.

Mayor Jan Molinaro
