Great basketball season will never be forgotten

To the EHS boys basketball team, thanks for the ride. It was an unbelievable season that will never be forgotten.

After the disappointment of Saturday, March 13, I know how I feel as a fan and I can only begin to imagine how you must feel as players and coaches. But the pain will fade over time and I only hope that you come to realize sooner rather than later the magnitude of your accomplishment as a team, as a representative of your school and as a representative of this community. Your dedication and hard work was clearly demonstrated by a second-place finish at state and a 27-1 record, which represents the greatest season in the long history of EHS boys basketball.

Your passion was contagious. The class and integrity with which you carried yourselves as a team makes us all proud to be Hornet fans and the outcome of a single game can do nothing to dimish that. Sports, as does life, always provides the opportunity to look back and ask “what if?” But it also teaches us how to accept both victory and defeat and to hold our heads high regardless of the outcome if we have given it our all. We as fans, know that you have and we are proud of you.

Thanks for the best season ever.
