Please allow me this space to remind everyone that the annual Letter Carrier Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive is rapidly approaching. Held every year on the second Saturday of May, the Food Drive this year is on Saturday May 10.
Each year, letter carriers across the country head out on their routes that Saturday and collect donations of non-perishable food items to benefit local food pantries. Here in Enumclaw the food is delivered to the Plateau Outreach Ministries Food Bank on Wells St. Since launching in 1993, the National Association of Letter Carriers’ annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive has grown into the nation’s largest one-day food drive, helping fill the shelves of food banks in cities and towns throughout the United States.
The need is great and you can help. Partnering with the National Association of Letter Carriers is the National Rural Letter Carriers’ Association, the USPS Postmaster, the USPS Joint Management Team, the AFL-CIO, the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union and the United Way. You are invited to join letter carriers and their partner organizations in the fight to end hunger in our communities by participating in the annual Stamp Out Hunger Food Drive.
Simply leave your donation of non-perishable food in a bag near your mailbox on May 10 and your letter carrier will do the rest.
I love living in Enumclaw, we are a caring and generous community. Last year nearly 5000 pounds of food were donated to the POM Food Bank due to this Food Drive. Your donations are sincerely appreciated. Thank you.
