It has been a year since I responded to another Church Corner column and as my eye caught this one I could not resist my desire to comment.
Over the past year I have had the opportunity to get to know a unique person to Enumclaw and our school district. He is easily one of the most influential and inspiring people I have ever met. In school, there were days that he made worthwhile and provided such incredible insight I did not want to leave his classroom.
Sigh, the liberal/progressive mind and its logic (or lack thereof) is a thing to behold. Brian as he does periodically (Herald 06/19/12) is on a “look at me” toot about guns. His “argument” seems to be: Ya guns are a right, says the Supreme Court; I don’t like it but it is what it is.
Since I was born in 1924, I spent my “growing up years” during the 10 years of the Great Depression. During the Depression there were several so-called “stimulus projects” developed by the U.S. government. I would like to mention a few that seemed to have worked well. Variations of these may help our country today.
Thank you to family, friends and classmates (some who came long distances) who attended Russell Glover’s memorial on May 5. Special acknowledgement to the Enumclaw Eastern Star members who provided a wonderful luncheon.
As many of you on the Plateau know, the Krain Corner Restaurant has been fighting for its survival. We welcome all the people who come in to our place. We were thrilled by the response to our listing on the Historic Register.
I wanted to give some recognition to The Stars & Stripes Fourth of July Celebration’s “Patriotic Sponsors”. What this means, is these organizations have contributed $1,500 or more toward our parade and fireworks.
It is with mixed emotions that I announce the sale of Enumclaw Music to David and Cathy Bozich. It is time for me to retire and I am delighted to have new owners who will carry on the reputation of Enumclaw Music.
The Enumclaw Library will join the King County Library System (KCLS) on June 1, and KCLS is pleased to welcome all Enumclaw residents to the KCLS network of 47 community libraries. We know you love your Enumclaw Library, and hope you will be equally delighted as the newest member of KCLS.
A great thing just happened in East Pierce County, thanks to Sound Transit. The transit agency’s Board of Directors voted April 26 to approve our proposal to create a new bus route for people commuting from Bonney Lake, Buckley and Enumclaw to reach the Sumner Sounder Station.
Mayor Enslow, appointed to represent the city at PTIC (Pierce County Public Transportation Improvement Conference) was not in a decision making position but an information gathering position to bring to Council for consideration.
Mr. Qualls, are you done yet? For months now, you have brought your brasher, roughshod version of “Get Jesse” to this town while publishing personal attacks toward elected officials whose sole intent is to help protect the people of this community.
On Saturday, April 21, I participated in Park Appreciation Day at Midtown Park. Three deserving city of Bonney Lake employees, Mary Barcom, Dana Fugere and H. D. Messinger received the Robert Ceola Memorial Arbor Day Award for their work in our city parks above and beyond their 8 hour a day job.
