In June 2009, Carolyn Rembert retired after many years in education. In recent years, she had been the principal at Foothills Elementary, Wickersham School of Discovery and Wilkeson Elementary. A group of parents wanted to do something special to honor Rembert on her retirement and the Carolyn Rembert Discovery Fund was born.
Rembert was passionate about bringing the arts to elementary school students. The purpose of the fund is to bring arts enrichment to elementary school students in the White River School District. This spring, schools will have the opportunity to submit proposals for funding. Proposals will be reviewed and funds will be awarded for the 2010-11 school year.
The fund is administered by the White River Education Foundation. Anyone interested in contributing, either to honor Rembert or to support arts education, can write a check to the White River Education Foundation, with Arts Fund in the memorandum line, and send it to WREF, P.O. Box 1951, Buckley, 98321, or donate online at whiterivereducationfoundation.org. Donors will receive a receipt for their tax-deductible contribution.
