Angeline Road closed during the day for sewer line replacement work

Drivers in Bonney Lake are warned to avoid Angeline Road during the day as public works crews work to replace a leaky sewer pipe.

Sections of Angeline Road between Old Buckley Highway and the state Route 410 overpass will be closed from approximately 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. each work day until at least the end of February. Detours will reroute traffic around the work.

Bonney Lake Public Works Director Dan Grigsby said the sewer line along Angeline has needed more than $100,000 in repairs over the last five years and is finally being replaced.

Grigsby said the repairs are part of work being done in response to the 2006 collapse of a sewer pipe near state Route 162 in Sumner. Grigsby said pipes have been replaced all up the hill, back to Angeline Road and will continue to life station 17, located under the 410 overpass.

Following repairs, the sewer line will have an expected lifetime of more than 40 years.

The total cost of the work is approximately $1.1 million, paid from a public works trust fund loan taken out after the 2006 incident.

Grigsby called the replacement a “good use of money” because of the expected savings from repairing the leaks.

Work is expected to be completed by the end of February with the final overlay of asphalt scheduled for when the weather gets better in April or May. Curb, gutters and sidewalks are also scheduled to be added.
