When the Bonney Lake cross country team participated in the subdistrict meet Saturday at Fort Steilacoom’s scenic 5K course, the girls team finished third overall and the boys faction will send a tandem of harriers to American Lake Golf Course in Lakewood Saturday for the West Central District jog fest.

The Panther ladies scorched the ground at Fort Steilacoom with Marie Wilson and Sierra Espinal zipping across the finish line in third and fifth place, respectively, with clockings of 19 minutes, 29 seconds and 19:39. That dynamic duo was shadowed by Haley Theriault in 17th, Madisen Liddle in 28th, Yodi Lawes 39th, 22:40, Hope Dickson, 40th, 22:42 and McKenzie Voeller in 41st place with an accounting of 22:43, which head coach Andrew Foster said played a distinctive role in Bonney Lake finishing third.

The entire Panther girls squad will make the trip to American Lake.

The male segment of the BLHS cross country contingent was not so fortunate, as its team will not be moving on, but a pair of its runners will be, as the top 25 individuals in each gender progress to the next level. Nolan Weber completed the splashy course in 22nd place overall with a time of 17:28 and nipping at his heels was Ryan McGraw, who wound up in 23rd place only two ticks of the stop watch later.
