Bonney Lake, Sumner compete in softball game for additional donations to Relay For Life

The cities of Bonney Lake and Sumner this weekend are competing in the inaugural Relay For Life Softball Game fundraiser to raise money for the June 30 Relay. All proceeds from the seven-inning softball game between employees of the two cities will go to support the Relay. There will also be raffles between innings and concessions available.

Bonney Lake Councilmember Jim Rackley is scheduled to umpire the game and Bonney Lake Councilmember Laurie Carter is scheduled to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

Planning Manager Heather Stinson will sing the national anthem.

The hope is to make the game an annual event to raise money for the Relay for Life and will rotate between the two cities each year.

This year’s event is scheduled for 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Allan Yorke Park in Bonney lake.
