Exciting summer events are scheduled at King County’s Brightwater Center in June and July.
Brightwater Center, an environmental education and community gathering place at the Brightwater Clean-Water Treatment Facility, is located at 22505 State Route 9 S.E. in Woodinville. Events are free and children accompanied by an adult are welcome.
Forest to Fork, Saturday, June 6, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (Ages 8 and older)
Join IslandWood as they share knowledge about common local edible plants and some simple, kid-friendly ways to enjoy them. Participants will learn the do’s and don’ts of collecting edible plants, head to the forest for gathering and prepare a meal together with what they found. Register now!
Rain Garden Workshop, Saturday, Aug. 8, 10 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. (Ages 14 and older)
Come learn how to install and maintain a rain garden on your property from King and Snohomish county experts. Information about local rebate programs that help subsidize the cost of installing rain gardens will be available. Register now!
Treatment Plant Tours, Saturday, April 11, 10 a.m. (Ages 9 and older)
Take a tour of King County’s newest treatment plant and learn how wastewater is transformed into valuable resources. Learn how wastewater can be recycled into reusable water, energy, and nutrients for plants and soil. Tours encourage visitors to think about responsible water use, the products they use and how everyday choices can help protect Puget Sound. Register now!
