The Buckley library will be changing its hours of operation next year, focusing on staying open later.
Currently, the library is open Monday through Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.; Thursday and Friday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.; and Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. (42)
But the Pierce County Library System is now changing up its weekday and weekend hours, starting Jan. 18.
“The adjusted schedules will include more weekend hours and are intended to make it easier for customers, especially busy families, to plan visits and access services and programs.,” a PCLS press release reads. “… The Pierce County Library analyzed usage data and community needs to guide this schedule adjustment and will continue adapting to meet evolving community needs.
Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays will now be open an hour less, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. — but Saturdays will be an hour more, again from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
And Tuesdays and Thursdays will see open hours shift to 11 a.m. to 7 p.m.
“By adjusting open hours, the Library can streamline operations to free up resources to focus on what matters most — serving the people in Pierce County,” the press release reads. “In addition to making library visits more convenient, these changes allow the Library to take services and programs beyond the library walls and into the heart of the community.”
Overall, the time shift results in the Buckley library being open two hours less.
