The city of Buckley has been planning the reconstruction of its downtown parking lots since 2014, when a state grant paid for the conversion of all city street and parking lot lights.

Now, it’s time for Phase 2, an extensive reconstruction of the lot just behind Main Street businesses. The lot sits between River Avenue and Cottage Street.

The remaining work started Friday and will consist of replacement of the sewer main, sidewalks, curb and gutters, landscaping and new pavement. While under construction, the parking lot will be closed to traffic.

As the work progresses, the contractor will attempt to maintain pedestrian access to business entrances facing the parking lot; however, the city is encouraging patrons to use business access on Main Street.

The goal is to have the project completed prior to the annual Log Show festivities in June.

Anyone with questions is urged to contact the city clerk or mayor at City Hall.
