Fire set a car ablaze in the Harborstone Credit Union parking lot in Bonney Lake shortly after 5 p.m. Thursday. The flames had engulfed the car and were shooting up into the air, according to an off-duty reporter who witnessed the incident.

According to a source from East Pierce Fire and Rescue, the driver was traveling on state Route 410 when she was alerted by other drivers on the road that her car was on fire. She pulled into the parking lot and exited the vehicle. Flames were coming from underneath the hood of the sedan.

A single firefighter engine was dispatched to the scene, and the blaze was quickly dispatched. The car was a total loss.

The parking lot is located near the intersection of state Route 410 and residential 208th Avenue East.
