Enumclaw School District Superintendent Mike Nelson and City Administrator Mike Thomas announced today their respective administrations have reached a tentative agreement on the Enumclaw stadium (Pete’s Pool) lease agreement.

Pending State RCO approval, the tentative lease agreement moves next to the Enumclaw School District Board of Directors and to the Enumclaw City Council for review and anticipated action.

“We are very pleased to partner with the city of Enumclaw and propose this long-term lease agreement to the City Council and the School Board for consideration. We believe this agreement will be of great benefit to the students of the Enumclaw School District and the entire Black Diamond andEnumclaw communities,” stated Enumclaw School District Superintendent Mike Nelson.

The major points of the proposed lease agreement include:

• a lease term of 25 years;

• the district’s ability to use the stadium for school sports and activities;

• the district’s assumption of the obligation to manage the stadium facility and provide forcommunity and third-party use of the stadium; and

• the district’s agreement to replace the turf field at the end of the turf’s usable life, which isexpected to occur twice during the 25-year lease term.

“For many years now the city of Enumclaw and the School District have worked in unison to provide recreational and athletic programming and facilities for the Plateau’s school aged youth. The new football turf field is a testament to the power of partnerships,” stated City Administrator Mike Thomas.
