Weed workshop at the Chase Garden

Kate Reedy, noxious weed specialist with the Pierce County Weed Board, will host a workshop from 6:30 to 8 p.m. Aug. 13 at Chase Garden, 16015 264th St. E. in Orting.

Reedy will cover noxious weeds, as well as the back yard, obnoxious varieties and teach everyone to identify important species. Best practices in weed control will also be discussed to enable you regain control of a landscape. Admission is free, although donations to the Chase Garden Foundation will be accepted.

Coffee with the Mayor Monday

The city of Bonney Lake will be hosting “Coffee with the Mayor” Monday at the Bonney Lake Senior Center.

Mayor Neil Johnson and one member of the council will be available for coffee and casual conversation, starting at 9 a.m.

Reunion for U.S.S. Columbus shipmate

The U.S.S. Columbus Association are searching for Navy and Marine Corps shipmate who served on the ship from 1944 through 1976 and past and present.

A reunion is Sept. 30 to Oct. 3 at the Holiday Inn Select in Nashville, Tenn.

Hassen receives degree from BU

Sarah Hassen of Bonney Lake was among 5,868 students who receive degrees from Boston University in May.

Hassen received a master of music in woodwind performance.
