Event partners and local sponsors are needed for the third annual Bonney Lake Community Health Fair planned for October.
Senior Service Assistant Staci Guirsch said the city has received several inquiries about the community health fair.
Guirsch said the city administration is reviewing the budget, but without sponsors cannot put on the event.
“We are looking into getting grants and sponsorships to help with funding, but will not have a definite answer to whether or not we will be able to continue with the health fair this year for awhile,” Guirsch said.
She estimates it will take about $4,000 to put on the health fair, with most of the money going toward advertising, yard signs and renting a facility.
“Our goal is to get local sponsors to keep it a hometown event,” Guirsch said.
Guirsch said the health fair offers vendors who can affect a family’s whole health.
“Health is not just medical anymore,” Guirsch said. “It has evolved into something more to include things like family interactive activities, emotional well being or even home organization. Things that affect the daily routine of a family affects their health.”
Guirsch said some of the last year’s vendors included Hope Family Medicine, the Pierce County Aging Resource Center and a Michelle’s Studio of Dance.
Guirsch said she hopes this will be the third community health fair.
The health fair originated several years ago at the Senior Center with its target audience primarily seniors. Two years ago the city administration decided to expand it into a Community Health Fair to encompass entire families.
