The Relay For Life for Sumner/Bonney Lake kicks off with an opening ceremony at 6 p.m. Friday, followed by a variety of events starting at 7.
The event will take place at Sunset Chev Stadium, 1707 Main St., in Sumner.
From 7 to 9 p.m. Friday, organizers are planning a 1980s icon look-alike contest, face painting, balloon animals and Clown Buggies.
Entertainment is slated to begin at 9:30 p.m. Friday and continue until the following morning.
The Carol Rose Band plays from 9:30 to 10:30 p.m., Zumba plays 10:30 to 11:30 p.m., the Westlake Dance Group goes from 11:30 to midnight and Chris Anderson performs until 12:30 a.m., followed by Twister until 1 a.m.
An infield 1980s dance with disc jockey Cliff Erickson is planned for 1 to 2 a.m. and an outdoor movie, “Back to the Future,” will be shown from 2 to 4:30 a.m.
Beginning at 4:30, Erickson will play more music.
A sunrise prayer circle is slated for 6 to 6:30 a.m. at midfield.
More contests are planned from 7 to 9:30 a.m. including a yo-yo contest, Rubik’s Cube contest, three-legged race, crazy big hair contest, leap frog contest and remote control car races.
Also, a sidewalk art contest and Crazy Big Hair booth are planned for 8 to 9:30 a.m.
The Home Depot Kid Zone is 8 a.m. to noon.
A health and wellness tent will be on display during the 18-hour event.
Contest and award winners will be announced at 9:30 a.m.
Closing ceremonies are planned for 11:30 a.m. to noon Saturday.
Relay For Life, the American Cancer Society’s signature event, raises awareness and funds to save lives, help those touched by cancer and empower people to fight back against this disease.
