Carbonado opens school doors first

Carbonado Historical School District students head back to the classroom first this fall with doors opening Aug. 31. Students will take a quick break Sept. 5 for Labor Day and then venture back Sept. 6.

Students in Buckley and Wilkeson will also get a jump on the school year as the White River School District starts classes Sept. 1. Students there will also take Sept. 5 off for the Labor Day holiday.

The Enumclaw School District has opted to start school after Labor Day with a Sept. 6 opening.

 

Enumclaw bus schedules Friday

A number of changes have been made to the 2011-12 Enumclaw School District bus schedules. Those changes should be available Friday. Check the district website, www.enumclaw.wednet.edu for all pertinent information – locations, times, routes and bus numbers.

 

EMS welcomes students Monday

Enumclaw Middle School hosts Timberwolf Day Monday. This is an opportunity for sixth-grade and new students to meet teachers and tour the facility.

This is also the time to purchase student body cards, pay athletic-user fees, purchase lunch, and buy yearbooks and P.E. uniforms.

Sixth-graders and new students are welcome between 9:15 a.m. and noon.

Returning seventh- and eighth-grade students have scheduled times based on the first letter of their last name; A-F, 1 to 1:30 p.m.; G-L, 1:30 to 2 p.m.; M-R, 2 to 2:30 p.m. and S-Z, 2:30 to 3 p.m.

 

Supplies handed out in Black Diamond

The Black Diamond Community Center is collecting donations of school supplies and clothing for low-income school-age children for distribution from 6 to 8 p.m. Aug. 31 at the Black Diamond Community Center.

Items needed are: 1- and 2-inch 3-ring binders, loose-leaf paper, spiral notebooks, No. 2 pencils, ballpoint pens, markers, rulers, 24-pack crayons, 24-pack colored pencils, watercolor paints, back packs, pencil pouches, folders with sturdy pockets, round-tipped scissors, big pink erasers, pencil sharpeners, glue sticks, glue bottles, Kleenex boxes and gallon-sized Ziploc bags.

Clothing – T-shirts, coats, jeans and shoes in children’s and teen’s sizes – is also being collected.

It’s two days of Hornet Days at Enumclaw High School. Students with last names beginning with the letters A-F are welcome to schedule between 9 and 10:30 a.m. Thursday; G-L from noon to 2:30 p.m. that same day. Friday, students with last names beginning M-R are welcome from 8 to 10:30 a.m.; S-Z from noon to 2:30 p.m.
