Eighteen-year-old allegedly drives car into ditch while DUI | Buckley Police Blotter

Every person in the police blotter is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

LICENSE SUSPENDED: On July 18, 2 a.m., an officer stopped a vehicle on state Route 410 when a records check showed the registered owner’s license was suspended. The driver, who was indeed the registered owner, was arrested and later released with a criminal citation.

ID THEFT: On July 18 around 4 p.m., a man reported his debit card stolen. He did not know when it had been stolen, but said unknown persons had used his card to deposit possibly stolen checks into his account. He told police these people then withdrew cash out of his account before the checks were returned.

MALICIOUS MISCHIEF: Officers responded to a report of damaged all-terrain vehicles at a Jefferson Avenue residence. The homeowner reported that persons unknown had entered his closed garage and damaged three quad bikes. The case was forwarded to investigations.

DUI: An officer stopped a vehicle for speeding on Highway 410 on July 21, at 2:19 a.m. The driver was submitted to voluntary field sobriety tests and placed under arrest for driving under the influence.

IN A DITCH: At 5:39 a.m. July 21, an officer spotted a vehicle in a ditch on state Route 165. An 18-year-old—and apparently intoxicated—man was standing on the side of the road. The officer stopped him and the man said he had been driving the car. He was submitted to voluntary field sobriety tests and determined to be DUI. He was arrested for DUI and for driving while his license was suspended in the second degree.

WARRANT: A 32-year-old Tacoman was stopped the afternoon of July 22 for speeding, and was then found to be driving on a suspended license. He also had an outstanding arrest warrant issued by Washington State Patrol. He was arrested, cited and later booked into Pierce County Jail by state patrolmen.

POSSESSION: At 11:23 p.m. July 22, an officer stopped a vehicle for speeding on Highway 410, and smelled fresh marijuana while contacting the driver. The officer asked where the marijuana was and the driver said it was in her purse. She provided the suspected cannabis to the officer and he gave her a criminal citation and notice of infraction.
