Emergency Preparedness Day is Saturday

The first Pierce County Emergency Preparedness Day is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Bates Technical College, South Campus, on 2201 S. 78th St. in Tacoma.

The first Pierce County Emergency Preparedness Day is from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Bates Technical College, South Campus, on 2201 S. 78th St. in Tacoma.

It will be free and open to the public.

Everyone is invited to take part in training sessions such as fire extinguisher, basic search and rescue techniques, 2009-2010 winter weather outlook, electrical and gas safety, personal preparedness, pet preparedness, earthquake awareness, and many others.

Some of the equipment that will be showcased includes the Pierce County’s bomb robots, Mobile Operations Command Center, Search and Rescue equipment, and many other exciting pieces of equipment.
