TRANSFORMER?: A loud explosion was heard just after 6 a.m. July 6 in the vicinity of Harding Street. A caller to the police suggested it was a problem with a Puget Sound Energy transformer, as there was a power outage in the area. A police dispatcher notified PSE.

ANIMAL ISSUE: The manager of a city apartment complex called police July 6 regarding a pit bull that was being kept in one of the units and was allowed to roam free. An officer located the dog and informed the owner of a city ordinance prohibiting that breed of dog. The owner agreed to relocate the animal.

VERBAL DISPUTE: Police responded the evening of July 6 to a verbal dispute between a man and tenants at a city apartment building. It was discovered the man had felony warrants issued by the state Department of Corrections and the city of Tumwater. He was arrested and taken to the police station for booking. It was discovered he had been ordered to stay away from the apartment complex so an additional charge of trespassing was added.

DAMAGE DONE: Police took a report July 5 of damage done to a vehicle by a “cherry bomb” device. It appeared the explosive had not detonated until landing on the vehicle. Information was taken for insurance purposes.

DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: A July 5 visitor to the police station lobby reported a case of domestic violence. Police then arrested a suspect for assault and unlawful imprisonment.

COMMERCIAL BURGLARY: Police responded to an alarm at 11:40 p.m. July 5, finding a burglary in progress at a business on 288th Avenue Southeast. One male suspect was taken into custody and a second suspect fled the scene. The second, a 14-year-old male, was later located at a Chinook Avenue residence. Both were charged with second-degree burglary for theft of beer from a restaurant.

PEDESTRIANS STRUCK: At 9:42 p.m. July 4, a vehicle struck multiple pedestrians near the intersection of Mountain View Drive and Farman Street. Medical crews counted eight patients total; three were taken to St. Elizabeth and one was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

SMALL FIRE: An officer patrolling July 4 spotted a small fire starting in the beauty bark put down at a Semanski Street location. The officer snuffed the fire and had the property owner wet the bark to prevent further problems.

FIREWORKS: On July 4, police were busy with many instances where illegal fireworks like firecrackers and bottle rockets were being discharged. On numerous occasions, the fireworks were confiscated.

NOT ALLOWED: Police were told July 3 of pitbull dogs present at the Boise Creek Sixplex while a game was in progress. Contact was made and the dog owner was told of regulations prohibiting that breed in the city limits.

COMPLAINT: A citizen asked to speak with police July 3 regarding a traffic stop that occurred the week before. the man was upset that his knife had been confiscated. An officer explained that such disputes need to be taken up with the court system.

METH LAB?: Police were told July 3 of a possible methamphetamine lab. The location was outside the city limits so the reporting party was provided with information for the King County Sheriff’s Office.

CASH, PHONE TAKEN: A citizen told police at 1:23 a.m. July 2 a purse had been stolen from an unlocked vehicle. The purse was later found a short distance away; all items were still in the purse except for $50 in cash and a cell phone.

THEFT FROM AUTO: A cell phone and a GPS device were taken from a vehicle July 2 while it was parked on Roosevelt Avenue.

EQUIPMENT TAKEN: A lawn mower and trimmer were stolen from a carport of a Lowell Avenue home between 4:30 a.m. and 2:30 p.m. July 2. There were no suspects.

SHOPLIFT: Employees of a Monroe Avenue business notified police at 12:50 a.m. July 1 of a suspect who transferred items from a shopping cart into a canvas bag, then left the store without paying for the goods. The male suspect could not be located.

RECKLESS: After hearing of a vehicle being driven in a reckless manner at 8 p.m. July 1, police stopped a vehicle in the vicinity of Initial Avenue and Pioneer Street. The driver was taken into custody and booked for driving under the influence. The vehicle was released to the driver’s husband, who noted that damage to a mirror and window was new.
