SUSPICIOUS SMELL: Police took a report at 9 p.m. June 16 of a gas or chemical odor in the vicinity of Harding Street and Griffin Avenue. Local police and fire personnel responded, determined the odor was natural gas and released the scene to the city’s gas department.
NO DAMAGE DONE: Police responded to Enumclaw High School at 12:30 a.m. June 15 after hearing of a group of juveniles throwing toilet paper around school property. No one could be found and no damage was done. Police were back at the school at 2:45 a.m. as the unknown subjects continued to toss tissue after the first mess had been cleaned up.
DOMESTIC VIOLENCE: Police responded at 11:30 a.m. June 15 to a Semanski Street address and the report of a domestic violence assault and malicious mischief. The suspect, who had been drinking, had left the scene and could not be located. Officers contacted the victim and took a report.
WINDOWS SMASHED: The windshields of two vehicles parked at a Chinook Avenue apartment complex were broken June 15 by thrown rocks.
NO CRIME: Police responded June 14 after hearing someone stole two bundles of wood from a Monroe Avenue business. The suspect was contacted at his home and told the store would not press charges but he was trespassed from the store for one year. Several hours later, police learned a video tape had been reviewed and the suspect had taken only the single bundle he paid for. An officer contacted the man and told him he was free to return to the store.
MALICIOUS MISCHIEF: An officer contacted a Wells Street resident late June 13 regarding damage done to her vehicle. Unknown suspects damaged the rear window.
CANNOT LOCATE: Police were told the afternoon of June 13 of a group of four to six juvenile males smoking marijuana in the 1300 block of Wells Street. Police checked the area and found nothing.
DISTURBANCE: Police were notified at 12:21 a.m. June 12 of a rowdy group of people outside a Cole Street business. Following a drive-through of the area, police found nothing out of line. Police soon received a second call, this time regarding a problem with a man attempting to sell prescription medications. He was gone upon police arrival.
HOME PROWLER: A Chelsea Lane resident called police at 2:35 a.m. June 12 after her dog alerted her to someone in black clothing attempting to climb over her back fence. The intruder fled and Enumclaw police, with the help of a Buckley officer, could not immediately locate the suspect.
DRUNK DRIVER: Police learned of a recklessly-driven vehicle that had left tire marks on the road before running through a stop sign at Stevenson Avenue just after 6 p.m. June 12. Officers stopped the vehicle at Semanski Street and state Route 410 and found the driver to be under the influence of alcohol. He was taken into custody and booked and his vehicle was impounded.
THREE CHARGES: A traffic stop at 11:30 p.m. June 12 resulted in the motorist being taken into custody for driving with a suspended license, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. His vehicle was impounded and a female passenger was given a ride to the police station, where she was picked up.
WELFARE CHECK: Police were asked at 1:38 a.m. June 10 to check on the welfare of a man passed out behind a downtown business. Police roused the man, then gave him a ride to his home where he was turned over to family members.
