Expect Saturday morning delays on 410 bridge

Drivers in Enumclaw and Buckley should be prepared for some short-term delays Saturday morning, May 30, on the State Route 410 White River Bridge.

Drivers in Enumclaw and Buckley should be prepared for some short-term delays Saturday morning, May 30, on the State Route 410 White River Bridge.

From 7 a.m. to 9 a.m., maintenance staff from the Washington State Department of Transportation will inspect the bridge. During that time, flaggers will alternate traffic across the bridge in the open lane. Drivers should add some extra time to their trips during the work hours.

The structure is being inspected to ensure that a temporary fix is operating correctly. A routine inspection on April 4 revealed damage to a metal beam on the overhead support structure of the bridge, believed to have been caused by an oversized load striking it. After closing the bridge to traffic, contractor crews made repairs by constructing a temporary support structure and the bridge reopened to traffic on Saturday, April 11. A permanent repair, estimated to cost about $1.5 million, is scheduled to begin later this year.

In the Puget Sound area, drivers can get real-time traffic information on their phone with the WSDOT traffic app, by tracking the WSDOT traffic Twitter feed, and get advanced information from the What’s Happening Now page.
