The two propositions on Tuesday's special election ballot asking to merge the Tri-district fire protection agencies have passed, according to results posted on the Pierce County Auditor's Web site.

One proposition asked approval to merge Pierce County Fire District 12 - headquartered on 234th Avenue East between Bonney Lake and Buckley - with East Pierce Fire and Rescue (District 22).

The second proposition asked to merge South Prairie Fire District 20 with East Pierce.

The election will be certified May 26 with official results posted by 1 p.m.

The results as of this morning are as follow.

€ Fire Protection District 12 – Proposition No. 1

Approved - 1,041 - 84.50 percent

Rejected - 191 - 15.50 percent

€ Fire Protection District 20 – Proposition No. 1

Approved - 312 - 92.86 percent

Rejected - 24 - 7.14 percent
