Throughout the day, you’ll see Beyond the Borders buses going in town and may wonder what they are.  Beyond the Borders provides free transit to people in Sumner who are senior citizens, youth, low-income or disabled.

The buses run a regular circular route through Sumner every 45 minutes, Monday through Friday, and they offer Demand Response Transportation in particular circumstances. In March alone, they had 514 boardings in Sumner.

For a number of years now, this service has been quietly filling the needs of many of our residents, and I’d like to thank County Executive Pat McCarthy and Transportation Program Specialist Jerri Kelly for making this all happen.

As a way to evaluate the service and best serve our community, they are asking you to fill out a very short (1 minute) survey for yourself or on behalf of other people who you know use or could need the service. Click here to take the survey.
