Health Fair back on track

The future of Bonney Lake’s community health fair – once in doubt due to a lack of partners – is back on track, now that a group of local businesses have stepped forward.

Senior Services Assistant Staci Guirsch said Francisan Health Systems, Mountain View Chiropractic, Prime Fitness and Rainier Dental will partner with the city of Bonney Lake for this year’s health fair.

Guirsch said the Bonney Lake Health Expo will run from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. Aug. 29 in the Prime Fitness/Rainier Dental parking lot, 18209 state Route 410 in Bonney Lake.

“This is an effort to dramatically increase visibility to our community and drive attendance to participate in the event,” Guirsch said.

The health expo’s mission is to educate families about healthy living, provide comprehensive and personalized care in a welcoming environment and increase awareness of resources available to those in Bonney Lake and the surrounding area.

This year, Guirsch said, a “ poker run” is planned to create traffic during the day of the event for business sponsors located between SR 410 and 234th Avenue.

She said a band will perform for a dance from 4 to 7 p.m.

“There will be a fun area for children to play and the dance is open to everyone to promote fun exercise,” she added.

Booth space for the expo is $25 for a 10 foot by 10 foot area. Sponsorships for the poker run cost $50.

Guirsch said organizers are looking for additional sponsors. She estimates it takes about a few thousand dollars to put on the health fair, with most of the money spent on advertising and yard signs.
