All subjects in published police reports are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

STOLEN VEHICLE: On Jan. 20, at approximately 8:50 p.m. an officer was on patrol and got behind a moving vehicle. The officer ran the license plate and found it had been reported stolen. The officer notified communications that he was behind a rolling stolen vehicle and the vehicle pulled into a driveway. Two suspects were arrested for providing false information to officers. One suspect was arrested on a felony warrant, another for possession of stolen property.

PROWL: On Jan. 25, at approximately 2:21 a.m. officers responded to a vehicle prowl that had been interrupted. While en route, dispatch advised that the reporting party had caught someone in the back of his pickup and the suspect was last seen fleeing the scene on foot. Across the street from the reporting party’s house was a vehicle with its trunk open, inside of the trunk were the tools stolen from the reporting person’s truck and some other items of value. Earlier in the night a witness had called and reported somebody prowling cars driving a vehicle that matched that of the vehicle containing the stolen property. The officer ran the plate of the vehicle and got the name of the owner. The officer photographed the vehicle and impounded it as evidence. Dispatch then notified officers that the owner of the vehicle was calling to report his vehicle stolen. Officers went to meet with the owner of the vehicle and he advised the officer his car had been stolen 20 minutes ago from a local gas station. The officers advised that they had been with his vehicle for the last 45 minutes so that was not possible, he was then arrested for vehicle prowling and later booked into Puyallup Jail.

DUI: On Jan. 27 an officer was performing stationary traffic enforcement when he observed a vehicle roll through a stop sign going about 15 miles per hour. The officer performed a traffic stop and the driver started to get out of the vehicle. The officer directed the driver to get back into the vehicle and close the door which he slowly did. The officer approached the vehicle and could smell the overpowering odor of intoxicants. The officer also observed that the driver’s eyes were extremely bloodshot and watery. He also had an obvious slur while speaking with the officer. When the officer asked the driver if he had anything to drink tonight, he replied, “No, not at all.” The driver agreed to perform some field sobriety tests and got out of his vehicle. He then took off running at a full sprint through the parking lot. The officer chased the driver approximately 300 yards during which time he gave six verbal commands to stop, which he refused to comply with. The driver was caught and arrested and taken to the station for Blood Alcohol Content processing. The driver then told the officer that he was the same officer that arrested him before about two weeks ago for DUI. Throughout the process, the driver expressed anger and was used derogatory language toward the officer. The driver was issued an infraction for no insurance and for failure to stop at a stop sign. He was then booked into Puyallup Jail for DUI and obstructing justice.
