Johnson plans to seek a second term

Bonney Lake Mayor Neil Johnson seeking a second term as mayor

Bonney Lake Mayor Neil Johnson is seeking a second term as mayor.

“We have come a long way in building a strong community, so it is time we complete what we have started,” Johnson stated in his press release.

Since being elected mayor in November 2005, he has worked with the council to create a long-term vision and atmosphere of “team”.

Johnson said the recent overwhelming “no” vote on the city charter election has proven that we are moving in the right direction in Bonney Lake.

Johnson said during his first term, the city has achieved stability among staff in all departments. Previously high turnover rates disrupted services and cost the city extensive loss of institutional knowledge.

“The stability of the current city government allows us to better focus on long term planning, controlling growth, increased public safety, continued improvement of our local lakes, parks, and implementing the sidewalk, streetlight and downtown plans,” he said. “This includes the creation of Main Street and the construction of a much needed interim justice building.”

Johnson said he continues to work to bring additional open space, recreation, restaurants, jobs and much needed services to the Bonney Lake area.

Citizens are invited to contact him at neiljohnsonjr@comcast.net with any questions or concerns they have.

He also welcomes citizens to attend his “Coffee with the Mayor” forums the first Monday of every month at the Bonney Lake Senior Center.
