Share the joy of reading with a child during the Pierce County Library System’s story time.

These free events are bursting with books and activities that teach children prereading skills and prepare them for reading success. Registration is under way and may be required.

Addresses for the three area county libraries are: Bonney Lake Pierce County Library, 18501 90th St. E; Sumner Pierce County Library, 1116 Fryar Ave.; and Buckley Pierce County Library, 123 S. River Ave.

The list of story times are:

• Baby Explorers, for children ages up to 2 years old, at 10:30 a.m. Tuesdays, Jan. 5 through Feb. 16, and 10:30 a.m. Fridays, Jan. 8 through Feb. 19 at the Bonney Lake Pierce County Library.

• Toddler times, for children ages 2 to 3 years old, at 11:30 a.m. Tuesdays, Jan. 5 through Feb. 16, and 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 6 through Feb. 17 at the Bonney Lake Pierce County Library; and 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 6 through Feb. 17, at the Sumner Pierce County Library.

• Preschool times, for children ages 3 to 6 years old, at 11:30 a.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 6 through Feb. 17, at the Bonney Lake Pierce County Library and 11:30 a.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 6 through Feb. 17, at the Sumner Pierce County Library.

• Family times, for families with preschool-age children, are 10:30 a.m. Wednesdays, Jan. 6 through Feb. 17, at the Buckley Pierce County Library.

• Bilingual times, for families with preschool-age children, Spanish and English, 6:30 p.m. Mondays, Jan. 4, Jan. 11, Jan. 25, Feb. 1 and Feb. 8 at the Sumner Pierce County Library.

• Story play times, for children ages 3 to 6 years old, at 10:30 a.m. Thursdays, Jan. 7 through Feb. 18, at the Sumner Pierce County Library.
