King County Council Committee recommends Fire District 44 name change

“We protect 70 square miles serving Auburn, Kent, Black Diamond and Enumclaw addresses,” said District Chief Greg Smith. “Although we have been using the name Mountain View for twenty years, this will now make that name official.”

Oversight (GAO) Committee approved, and sent to the full County Council with a “do pass” recommendation, an ordinance changing the name of King County Fire District 44 to Mountain View Fire and Rescue.

“The Fire District Board of Commissioners wanted to act in the best interest of the residents they serve,” said Councilmember Reagan Dunn, sponsor of the ordinance.  “This change will do just that and I fully support the legislation.”

We protect 70 square miles serving Auburn, Kent, Black Diamond and Enumclaw addresses,” said District Chief Greg Smith. “Although we have been using the name Mountain View for twenty years, this will now make that name official.”

The proposal to change the name of Fire District 44 was first proposed in June of this year by the Commissioners of the District.  This name change will be in the best interest of the area they serve and will make the district more recognizable to the residents of Fire District.

The ordinance now moves on to the full County Council for final action.
