What Happened at the Metropolitan King County Council

At today’s Council meeting, Councilmembers:

• Unanimously adopted an ordinance authorizing an interlocal agreement related to the County providing services to the King County Transportation District (Ordinance 2014-0092).

• A motion acknowledging receipt of a plan to assess the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office’s 180 Program, including a description of how the assessment of the Program’s actual impact on delinquent behaviors will be conducted, what data will be relied upon, and a timetable for the assessment, and an estimate of the cost of the assessment (Motion 2014-0091). The motion was sent to the Law, Justice, Health and Human Services Committee for discussion and possible action.

• A motion acknowledging receipt of a report regarding the cost of constructing and operating involuntary treatment act courtroom facilities at Harborview Hall in downtown Seattle and Fairfax Hospital in Kirkland, as well as the impact of operating a courtroom at Fairfax Hospital on court staff, patients, family members, professional witnesses and civilian witnesses (Motion 2014-0094). The motion was sent to the Budget and Fiscal Management Committee for discussion and possible action.

• A motion affirming King County’s support for the Skykomish Valley Economic Development, Recreation, and Natural Resource Conservation Initiative and recognizing the shared vision of the town of Skykomish and the Stevens Pass Greenway to enhance economic development, increase recreation opportunities and conserve the natural resources in the Skykomish valley (Motion 2014-0102). The motion was sent to the Transportation, Economy and Environment Committee for discussion and possible action.
