Locals pull for Trooper Seaburg

After being shot last month, Raymond Seaburg has been released from the hospital.

A few Courier-Herald readers and local community members recently shared their thoughts and memories of Trooper Raymond Seaburg after he was shot and injured in Kent last month while attempting to apprehend a DUI suspect.

While the incident happened off the Plateau, Seaburg is well-known in Enumclaw and the surrounding area, since he was stationed at the local Washington State Patrol office for several years before going on special assignment to target violent crimes on highways.

The shooting garnered a lot of local media attention, but it was only on a GoFundMe for Seaburg and his family that it was reported the trooper’s femoral artery was severed when he was shot, which could have led to limb loss or death without immediate medial attention from other first responders.

As of March 6, the GoFundMe has raised nearly $134,000, surpassing its goal. To donate, head to gofundme.com/f/help-support-trooper-seaburg-family.

A few other businesses, like Headworks Brewing and Runlands Grocery, have also been collecting donations.

Seaburg was released from the hospital on March 5.

‘HE MADE ME FEEL SAFE’

“I knew Trooper Seaburg very well during my time living in Enumclaw. I just recently moved but lived in Enumclaw for over 10 years. On more then one occasion I spent quite a bit of time speaking to Seaburg about life and really anything that was going on. He was a rock during some of the hardest times in my life.

He was the responding officer to my car accident in July of 2022. He kept me calm and made me feel safe. It felt like everytime a crisis was happening in my life he was there to save the day. When my car broke down he helped me fix it. He helped me get out of an abusive relationship. Truth be told I don’t think I’d be alive today if he wasn’t around.

He is an exemplary example of what an Officer should be. He is a shining beacon of the community and he is very loved by all.”

PROFESSIONAL

“He’s an amazing and professional LEO, he lifted pried with a 6ft crow bar a lady’s Ford Expedition off a cement pillar outside my house on 284th last year that she ran over into her wheel well. He was just driving by. I wish him a speedy recovery.”

PULLED ME OVER ONCE

“One of my favorite LEOs!! Amazing human. Met him first by being pulled over then by happenstance we worked together and have mutual friends!”
