Wednesday, the Pierce County Prosecutor’s Office charged Brian Chong Han, 40, with assault, burglary, and robbery. In Oct. 2012, the defendant, posing as a delivery driver, allegedly stabbed and robbed a woman in Spanaway. He was arraigned and bail was set at $500,000.

On Oct. 19, an attacker believed to be the defendant knocked on the victim’s door stating he had a delivery. The victim opened her door and the attacker forced his way into her home. He punched her in the face, stabbed her in the chest, pushed her into a chair, and duct taped her to the chair. He took $500 and jewelry, then drove off in her car.

The victim broke free, went to her neighbor’s home, and called 911. She was taken immediately to the hospital and had surgery for a collapsed lung. Pierce County Sheriff deputies located the car three blocks away, abandoned. During the investigation, detectives obtained a search warrant and found the victim’s credit cards, ID, and jewelry box in the defendant’s home. He was arrested on March 23.

Charges are only allegations and a person is presumed innocent unless he or she is proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt.
