Stolen Property and Warrants: On a routine patrol, officers observed a truck pulling a trailer that did not have functioning tail lights and the trailer license plate was not visible either. After speaking with the City Comm Dispatch, officers learned one of the trucks on the trailer had been reported stolen in King County and the tow truck had expired tabs. While officers spoke with female passenger, it became known that she had two warrants for her arrest, one out of Puyallup and the other out of Pierce County. She was transported to the Puyallup jail. The driver was cited for defective tail lights, no proof of insurance and expired vehicle registration. He was released from the scene. The charges for possession of stolen property in the third degree have been forwarded to the Pierce County District Court for review.

Driving Under the Influence: Around 12:30 a.m. officers responded to the report of someone driving under the influence. The reporting party told officers she pulled up next to the vehicle and observed the driver drinking alcohol. The vehicle pulled off into a shopping area parking and when officers attempted to contact the driver, the vehicle left the parking lot. Once officers did make contact with the driver, she agreed to perform voluntary field sobriety tests. As she exited the vehicle, she was swaying back and forth and prior to the tests she admitted to the officers that she knew she had been drinking too much and shouldn’t have been driving. She performed three field tests and gave a voluntary breath sample. Her blood alcohol level was .152. She was arrested and transported to the station for processing. Officers issued her a criminal citation for driving under the influence and third degree driving with a license suspended. She was released from the station.
