Northbound I-5 at Southcenter reduced to one lane Saturday night

WSDOT maintenance crews will close up to four lanes of northbound I-5 between the South 188th Street and Southcenter Parkway exits on Saturday, Nov. 1, to remove an old sign bridge.

WSDOT maintenance crews will close up to four lanes of northbound I-5 between the South 188th Street and Southcenter Parkway exits on Saturday, Nov. 1, to remove an old sign bridge.

Closure details

  • The overnight lane closures will begin at 10 p.m. Saturday. Four lanes will be closed by midnight.
  • All lanes will reopen to traffic by 5 a.m. Sunday morning.
  • One lane of northbound I-5 will remain open throughout the closure.

The sign bridge was installed during the 1960’s and it has reached the end of its functional life and can no longer be cost-effectively repaired.  The signs once attached to the sign bridge have been relocated to the side of the road.
