The White River Community Activities Program is offering several classes that were not part of its original fall schedule.

The White River Community Activities Program is offering several classes that were not part of its original fall schedule.

The first is self defense training, specifically designed for women with instructor Cathy Grantson. The first class will be offered from 9:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Oct. 3, 10, 17 and 24. The second class will take place from 6 to 9 p.m. Oct. 6, 8, 13 and 15. The fee is $120. Class size is limited to 12. The deadline to register is Monday, Sept. 21.

WRCAP presents a LEAN Start Program beginning in October.

LEAN stands for Lifestyle Exercise Attitude and Nutrition that was developed by a pediatrician. Its a fun, interactive program that provides parents and caregivers the tools and information to develop a lifetime of healthy habits for the entire family, improve mood and learning behavior through nutrition.

Session One is set for 10 a.m. to noon Oct. 8, 15 and 22 at the Buckley Conference Hall, 873 Main St. and South A Street (across from City Hall).

Session Two is slated for 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Oct. 6, 13 and 20 at the Foothills Elementary School library, 10621 234th Ave. E.

The fee is $80. This class is instructed by certified coach Sue Root. The registration deadline is Oct. 1.

The final addition is The Discovery Room, a place where young minds, kindergarten through fifth grade, can explore, experience, expand, express and discover art. Judi Dodson leads the class, which takes place at Wickersham multipurpose room.

Class One will be from 5 to 6 p.m. Mondays beginning Oct. 5 and running through Oct. 28. Class Two will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Oct. 6 through Oct. 29.

The fee is $50 and includes supplies. The registration deadline is Monday.
