Enumclaw had a busy week with the White River bridge planned to be closed until Saturday, but luckily, it was opened three days early! Other area news include the April 7 Black Diamond council meeting, where council members attempted to fire the city attorney, aA former manager of Enumclaw’s Friendship House being found guilty of stealing money from the houses residents, and Buckley installing a new traffic light on SR 410.
Need to catch up on Bonney Lake news? This last week was the anniversary of the deaths of Ellis family, who died when a concrete barrier on SR 410 fell onto Angeline Road. Additionally, the White River bridge was closed, but opened three days early, much to many Plateau residents’ enjoyment. Buckley will be installing a new traffic light on the SR 410 and SR 165 intersection, and Bonney Lake residents spotted bears in town.

Lake Tapps is looking rather full with a current elevation of 542 feet. Cascade Water Alliance, who controls the lake levels, plans to resume refilling the lake with water from the White River May 2, and expects the lake to rise to 542.5 feet by May 7.

An upcoming public forum aims to educate the public about substances and paraphernalia available in local stores and most homes. Chaos reigned at the April 7 Black Diamond City Council meeting. Within minutes of Mayor Carol Benson bringing down the gavel, the council descended into confusion over the correct agenda for the meeting. Councilwoman Pat Pepper introduced a resolution to switch the night’s agenda with one approved by herself as council president and Mayor Pro Tempore Erika Morgan, citing section 2.2 of the new council rules and procedures passed during the Jan. 21, 2016 meeting.
