Pierce County’s Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASAs) will gather at the Lemay America’s Car Museum from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, April 16 to “Get the Word Out” about the CASA Program and the need for more CASAs.

CASAs are trained volunteer advocates who are assigned to walk with a child through their time in foster care. There are more than 1500 children in Pierce County who have been removed from their parents due to abuse and neglect. CASAs ensure that the children’s needs are met and that they do not fall through the cracks or get lost in the system. CASAs also make sure the children find safe and stable permanent homes, whether by reunification with their family or through adoption.

At the “Get the Word Out” evening, CASAs will tell their stories, judges will give their perspectives, and two special CASAs will be honored for their dedicated advocacy. Music during the social hour will be provided by members of the Tacoma Youth Symphony.

The fabulous Beast Bus will be at the event. Appetizers and beverages will be served. There is no charge to attend, and this is not a fundraiser. The CASA Program, in partnership with Sleep Country, asks that you bring a pair of new shoes for a child (ages 1-18).
