Rotary selects standout students

The Enumclaw Rotary Club recognized three local students as Students Of The Month at its Oct. 15 meeting.

Khrystyanna (Casey) Schunke, daughter of Rhonda and Joe Schunke of Buckley, was the recipient from White River’s Alternative Program, formerly known as Collins. An active student at school she has been a peer tutor, part of the cultural awareness program and has led the school’s effort with the local Relay For Life event. She plans to attend Green River Community College and take coursework in the child development program.

Anna Nelson, daughter of Britt and Mike Nelson of Enumclaw, was the recipient from Enumclaw High School. A 4.0 grade-point student taking advanced placement classes, she is a member of the Honor Society, serves as this year’s special events representative on the leadership team and is on the varsity tennis and cross country teams. She is an active member of her church and has participated in three mission trips to Nicaragua. She plans to attend a four-year school in the fall and study international business.

Michael Madden, son of Melanie and Tim Madden of Buckley, was the recipient from White River High School. A 3.8 grade-point average honor student, he has taken numerous advanced placement classes at the high school. A three-sport athlete, he participates in track and field, wrestling and is the captain of the football team. He is also active in the local Relay For Life fundraising event. He plans to attend a four-year school as a pre-med student with aspirations of a career as an orthopedic surgeon.
