Schorzman shines for Stout squad

Randi Schorzman, a White River High graduate now attending the University of Wisconsin-Stout, was recently honored as a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference gymnastics specialist of the week.

Randi Schorzman, a White River High graduate now attending the University of Wisconsin-Stout, was recently honored as a Wisconsin Intercollegiate Athletic Conference gymnastics specialist of the week.

The WIAC recognition came after Schorzman turned in a season-best performance while winning the balance beam during a dual meet at UW-Oshkosh Feb. 19. Her score of 9.6 was 0.075 points short of her career-best mark, which came last season during an 11th-place finish at the National Collegiate Gymnastics Association championships.

Career highlights for the UW-Stout senior – the daughter of Jake and Ginny Schorzman – include:

2015: career high of 9.550 in the vault during a dual meet against Winona State; scored career-best 9.375 in the floor exercise at the WIAC championship; placed 14th on beam (9.350) at WIAC championship.

2014: qualified for the NCGA championship on the balance beam for second consecutive year, also completed in the vault (9.475) and balance beam (9.550).

2013: earned All-American honors on the balance beam with a 9.050 at the NCGA championships after advancing with a 9.450 during the first day of competition; also advanced to the NCGA championships in the vault; best vault of 9.500 came at home against Oshkosh.
