Sumner High students earn $5,800 in scholarships at 2009 National FFA Convention

Twenty-five Sumner High School students earned $5,800 in scholarships at the 2009 National Future Farmers of America Convention.

Twenty-five Sumner High School students earned $5,800 in scholarships at the 2009 National Future Farmers of America Convention.

The students earned awards in categories like Meats Evaluation, agricultural communications, dairy foods, food science and livestock evaluation. Tenth through 12th graders also earned awards in the convention’s annual science fair, which included categories in animal science, biochemistry, botany, engineering and environmental science.

Lindsey Montgomery, Kassandra Ognoskie, Erin Frazier and Katie Scholz each earned $1,000 for placing nationally in meats evaluation. Tim Hurd earned a first place gold medal and $500 for his individual environmental science project.
