Suspect arrested in child rape investigation

A 42 year old Tacoma resident was arrested this morning on allegations of two counts of Rape of a Child in the 3rd degree.

Detectives from the Washington State Patrol’s (WSP) Missing and Exploited Task Force (MECTF) arrested a 42 year old Tacoma resident this morning on allegations of two counts of Rape of a Child in the 3rd degree, and communicating with a minor for immoral purposes.

MECTF detectives received the case from the FBI’s South Sound Child Exploitation Task Force (SSCETF).  MECTF detectives learned the suspect allegedly had raped two victims, 14 and 15 year old girls, both unrelated to the suspect. They had visited the suspect’s daughter from out of state, and disclosed the allegations after returning home.

As part of the investigation detectives executed a search warrant on a residence on 27th Street, in Tacoma and ultimately arrested Sergio Lopez-Carrizales, 42. During the search warrant, detectives seized multiple digital media devices from the residence. The collected media devices will be forensically examined by detectives from the WSP High Tech Crimes Unit (HTCU).

Lopez-Carrizales, 42, was booked into the Pierce County Jail on charges of Rape of a Child in the 3rd degree, and communicating with a minor for immoral purposes.

The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible.
