Suspect refuses to admit music is too loud despite nine noise complaints | BONNEY LAKE POLICE BLOTTER

Bonney Lake Police Blotter, week of May 19.

POSSESSION: Police on May 6 were dispatched to the 9200 block of 211 Avenue East for a report of three subjects shooting a handgun into the air. Upon arrival Police contacted one of the subjects who said two friends had fled with an airsoft gun. Police located the other subjects, one of whom was carrying a large BB gun. A further search revealed a glass marijuana smoking device. He was transported to Buckley jail and charged with UPDP. The other subject was released at the scene.

VEHICLE PROWL: Police were called to Sound Family Medicine May 6 for a report of a vehicle prowl. The victim returned to his car to find the back window broken and a GPS system missing. Total damage and value of the device is estimated at $700.

BIKE THEFT: Officers were dispatched to Mountain View Middle School May 7 for a report of a stolen bicycle. The victim reported locking his bike to a pole at school and then returning to find the bike and lock missing. The bike is valued at $426. Police are investigating.

DISTURBING THE PEACE: Police on May 7 were dispatched to the 19400 block of 68th Street East for a complaint about loud music coming from a house which has had similar complaints this year. Police contacted the resident who denied his music was loud, despite Police saying they could hear it from five houses away. The resident continued to argue that his music was not loud. The subject was arrested and a records check revealed it to be the ninth noise complaint against the resident since Jan. 1. The subject was issued a citation for disturbing the peace and was released.

POT: Police on routine patrol May 7 noticed a parked car containing two males at the boat launch at Allan Yorke Park. Upon contact, the officer immediately smelled burnt marijuana. The driver admitted to having marijuana and consented to a search of the vehicle which also revealed a glass pipe, a bong and a digital scale. The subject was issued a citation for UPM and UPDP and released.

MALICIOUS MISCHIEF: Officers on May 9 were called to the New Peking restaurant for a report of a broken windshield on a vehicle parked overnight in the lot. Police are investigating.

SHOPLIFTING: Police May 8 were dispatched to Walmart fo a report of two shoplifters in custody. Store security witnessed two 13-year-old girls concealing items in their purses and then exiting the store without paying for them. The total amount of the items wax $83. Both girls were released into the custody of the mother of one of the girls. The case was forwarded to Remann Hall for review.

BUGALRY: Police on May 9 were called to the 19400 block of 94th Street East for a report that a dirt bike was stolen from a locked garage. The resident returned home to find the gate open and the garage door open and detached from the frame as well as the bike missing. Police were later contacted by Puyallup PD who located the bike in the back of a car of a pair of vehicle prowl suspects. The two suspects told conflicting stories and Police are investigating the matter.

ASSAULT: Police are investigating a May 9 assault that took place in the 10200 block of 194th Avenue East. According to the victim, he and his girlfriend were returning home from a party down the street and were accosted by a group of 20-something males, with whom they exchanged “words.” The pair proceeded home and thought the incident over until they heard voices outside and noticed one of the males running toward the house. Fearing they May damage his vehicles, the victim confronted the man who then “sucker punched” the victim, according to the report. The suspects left before Police arrived and offciers are investigating.

MALICIOUS MISCHIEF: Police responded to an alarm at Bonney Lake Elementary School and found a 14-year-old male on the premises. After a few initial lies, the boy admitted to going through the school and opening a faucet using a knife he was carrying. The boy also admitted to removing a “staff only” plaque from a door and throwing it on the roof, where it was later recovered. The boy was charged with malicious mischief and released to his father.

BOMB THREAT: Police on May 11 were dispatched to Bonney Lake High School for a report fo a verbal bomb threat. The student made a comment about finding grenades to blow up the school and was reported by a teacher – as is district policy – though the teacher also said she thought the student was not serious and was trying to make a joke. The student told Police he was frustrated and was joking when he made the comment. A search of the student revealed nothing. The student was expelled from the school and released to a guardian. The case was forwarded to Remann Hall for charges.

VEHICLE PROWL: Officers on May 11 were dispatched to the Prime Fitness parking lot for a report of a vehicle prowl. The complainant said he found his vehicle unlocked and that an unknown suspect had rummaged through the glove box and center console, but found nothing of value. Police are investigating.
