Ten seniors recognized for hard work, achievements

For high school seniors, the approach of summer not only means the end of a school year, but the conclusion of four years’ of hard work and to celebrate and honor some of Bonney Lake High School’s most diligent outgoing students, the Senior Showcase took place at the high school May 13, following the school board meeting.

Parents, students, and school officials watched as a documentary profiling the featured students played on a large screen in the school’s commons.

Recognized students were Addison Tracy, who is the school’s first state wrestling champion and an Eagle Scout; Danika Wilcoxson, Daffodil Princess and Associated Student Body secretary; Marika Barnes, a cheerleader and a director and producer for the high school’s Panther News Network program; Theresa Edwards, a science-inclined student who placed first in her category at the district-level science fair in ninth grade and did not look back, having participated in science fairs as a judge and winning this year’s Decade in Science Achievement award for the school district; Sam Murphy, a musician who puts six hours a day into his drumming; Garrett Orchard, a reporter who covered the spring play for the Panther News Network this year; Nicole Larsen, who volunteers in the community and participated in the musical “Oklahoma!” this year; Chris Lumsden, a Panther News Network anchor who did a feature story on the food bank who is also the master of ceremonies for the school’s pep assemblies; Melanie Partridge, who volunteered with the district’s High School and Beyond night; and Patcharin Thavornchaichok, who learned English her sophomore year and received a 4.0 grade-point average and participated in Key Club and Art Club among others. She hopes to become a nurse.
