The Bonney Lake Police Department (BLPD) will be conducting emphasis patrols during the month of December to crack down on drivers operating vehicles under the influence of alcohol or other drugs.

Extra patrols, education and changes in the law have contributed to a 42 percent reducting in the number of impaired driving collisions in Pierce County, according to BLPD.

Officers will take a zero tolerance approach, in an effort to further reduce collisions involving impaired drivers.

“Our goal is to do all we can to make sure we experience zero traffic related fatality collisions this holiday season so that everybody can make it home safely,” said a press release issued by BLPD.
