Weekend crash on SR 164 send three to hospital

One of the injured drivers was from Enumclaw

A crash on SR 164 last weekend sent three people to the hospital.

According to a Washington State Patrol report, a 1999 Mercury Grand was waiting in the eastbound lane of the highway at the 236th Avenue SE intersection waiting for another car to turn into a parking lot; the driver was from Enumclaw, the passenger from Edgewood.

At around 8:20 p.m., a GMC Canyon failed to stop and crashed into the older vehicle, pushing the car into a nearby ditch; the driver was from Tacoma

The road was closed for nearly four hours after the incident.

The alleged at-fault driver was arrested and charges of DUI and vehicular assault recommended to prosecutors.
