West Valley Highway is open after a mudslide required a closure of part of it.

A mudslide covered a section of the road following heavy rains and a crew began cleaning a week ago, but after more rain and another slide, the hillside remains too unstable for the road to open.

The hillside is private property and the owner of the land met with the city administrator, the public works director, the city engineer and the community development director Wednesday to discuss plans for stabilization. The hillside was determined to be stable following cleanup and repair.
