White River High’s Kendall Bird was a first-team selection and teammate Darian Gore received honorable mention when the Associated Press named its all-state boys and girls basketball teams.

The AP announcement came March 30 and included just five first-team picks for each classification and a few honorable mention nods.

The all-state selection is just the latest accolade for the 6-foot-2 Bird, one of two juniors on the Class 2A girls squad.

Following the season that wrapped up in March – in which she played 24 games and averaged almost 19 points per outing – Bird shared Most Valuable Player honors for the South Puget Sound League 2A. She has been a first-team, all-league selection during her three years of Hornet hoops.

Gore, a 6-3 senior, was one of five players from the 2A ranks to receive honorable mention. She was a first-team, all-league selection following the recent season and was a second-team pick following her junior campaign. Following graduation from White River, Gore will take her game to Humboldt State University.
