Yip-yip-hooray!: Pet parade included in Sumner Art & Rhubarb Pie Festival

The August 4 parade is hosted by Metro Animal Services, and the organization will also handle participant applications. The Tacoma Rainiers, Sumner Veterinary Hospital, and MudBay pet food suppliers are sponsors.

Have you ever gone to a puppy parade half-way through? It is pointless. That’s why you will want to grab an early seat for the 9 a.m. Pet Parade featured at the Sumner Art & Rhubarb Pie Festival.

The August 4 parade is hosted by Metro Animal Services, and the organization will also handle participant applications. The Tacoma Rainiers, Sumner Veterinary Hospital, and MudBay pet food suppliers are sponsors. It appears from Metro’s application page that the parade will only accept cats and dogs (suggesting that this is a legitimate opportunity to test the phrase, “like herding cats”).

Rhubarb, the Tacoma Rainiers’ anthropomorphic moose mascot, will lead the parade.

This marks the first summer that the Art Festival will be organized by the Puyallup/Sumner Chamber of Commerce.
